’i-Kandinsky’ is a new smartphone solution that creates an innovative and personalized experience for visitors to the Pisa Wassily Kandinsky exhibition

    18 December 2012

i-Kandinsky the solution developed by Reply for Giunti Arte in partnership with the Fondazione Palazzo Blu that allows who downloades it free of charge from Apple Store and Android Market, to have on his own smartphone the companion to the show that is much more than an ordinary guide. With i-Kandinsky, Giunti Arte has opened up a compelling new dimension to the exhibition and enabled visitors to ’customise’ their experience.

Unlike the audio guides and specific applications, i-Kandinsky ensures that smartphones display information about a specific piece of art only when the visitor approaches it. The application uses a sensor, designed by the Internet of Things Reply research centre, to locate the visitor and transfer unique multimedia content to the phone, including an image of the work, a description and an audio commentary.

What’s more, with i-Kandinsky, visitors can continue to enjoy the exhibition from the comfort of their own home, among friends or at school. Indeed the content, including the audio commentary, remains available from the visitor’s smartphone until the show comes to the end.

i-Kandinsky uses technologies and components developed by HI Reply, Reply’s platform for the Internet of Things, and opens up new horizons in customised solutions for exhibition and museum guides: a cultural experience to your fingertips, free, easy to use and interactive.

"i-Kandinsky provides an example of the way cities are becoming increasingly smart" commented Marco Cusinato, Reply Executive Partner. "Objects interact together with people and with internet to offer more innovative services. Apart from new services designed for the city and for tourism, HI Reply’s other potential applications include traffic support, aids to energy efficiency, security management for people and places, remote assistance for patients, and public transport".

Visitors who download i-Kandinsky qualify for a discount on their entry fee (by showing the application installed on their smartphone at the ticket office) and also get 10% off the price of the exhibition catalogue.

Thanks to Vodafone for their cooperation and support on this initiative.
