Mediaset Premium, Mediaset’s paid television service, offers the chance to see the best of entertainment in Pay-per-View mode, using a rechargeable pre-paid card in the same way as the cards adopted for mobile phones.
The solution, developed by Reply together with Mediaset’s Systems Management, brings the "pre-paid" model to the media industry.
Reply worked with Mediaset’s Systems Management to develop the application processes, to create the Pay-per-View systems and the integration architectures on the Digital Terrestrial platform.
The model selected to manage the recharging of Mediaset Premium cards introduced a radical innovation within Mediaset’s IT processes. Until now, pre-paid cards have never been used in the media industry or for Pay-per-View television, where payment for services is usually managed by setting up traditional subscriptions. Cards can be bought and recharged at newsstands or shopping centres, or through virtual channels such as the web, requiring new ways of interacting with customers and management of the card’s lifespan.
"The Reply team and Mediaset’s IT Management have taken on a very ambitious challenge in terms of timing - commented Maurizio Galli, Director of IT Systems at Mediaset - Nevertheless, I am pleased to note that an innovative solution, which ensures business to evolve in a flexible way, has been implemented".
The solution, which is the very first of its kind in the digital terrestrial industry, has been designed and implemented in record time, drawing on the best of Reply’s expertise in the field of the Digital Terrestrial platform so that Mediaset users will be able to use Mediaset Premium’s rechargeable facility from the first match of the football season.
