Product lifecycle management for product innovation and process control in supply chain

In order to improve the way it manages the lifecycle of its products, TATTILE has introduced Oracle Agile Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system, selecting Business Reply as the implementation partner for integrating the system within its business. The company has thereby gained full control over the every phase of the product lifecycle, from design and planning through to the customer-facing sales and after-sales processes.

FOCUS ON: Supply Chain Management, Oracle,
Customer: TATTILE

BACKGROUND

TATTILE was set up 20 years ago with the aim of developing and producing vision systems for quality control in industry, for traffic control, and for systems that provide information on rail networks. As well as producing standardised equipment, TATTILE also has a strong focus on producing products and systems developed in line with the specific needs of its customers.

The drive for innovation that distinguishes TATTILE relies on extensive R&D activities that draw upon a team of more than 30 engineers with skills in hardware and software design and optical and mechanical integration.

Prior to introducing the Agile PLM system, the process of managing product lifecycle was carried out using a series of software solutions that were not integrated with one another and, in the majority of cases, were not shared between all departments within TATTILE. This resulted in a series of inefficiencies and critical situations.

SOLUTION

In order to tackle the issues it faced, TATTILE took the decision to adopt a PLM system based on Oracle Agile PLM, entrusting Business Reply with the task of system integration.

Oracle Agile PLM is the Oracle's product lifecycle management system for supporting the entire lifecycle of a product. The solution offers consolidated and effective functionalities for managing products and the processes associated with them, while helping companies to speed up innovation and the resulting financial benefit for the business. It offers accurate and instantaneous information that allows users to make the best decisions at every stage of the product value chain.

The project of integrating Agile within TATTILE's systems was subdivided into different phases in order to allow for a gradual redesign of the processes involved while at the same time releasing, on completion of each project phase, the benefits derived from the adoption of a new system:

  • Product Collaboration
  • Product Portfolio Management
  • Product Quality Management
  • Integration with SAP and the RMA portal

REPLY VALUE

Business Reply has taken on a dual role within the project. Firstly it has acted as system integrator for Oracle Agile PLM, based on its detailed knowledge of the solution, allowing it to optimise the configuration phase and propose functional improvements in respect of the specific requirements of TATTILE that were not covered by the standard product. Secondly, it has provided consulting on organisational and process issues, thereby helping TATTILE to manage the growing complexity of the project and to create and organise the new internal planning team.

What's more, Business Reply has coordinated its activities very closely with TATTILE's business, ensuring that the system could be up and running in less than three months. At the same time, this beneficial collaboration has, over the course of the project, allowed users to acquire all relevant skills in the solution for enabling them to implement new processes and functionalities in future.
