The challenge
Manage a complex application portfolio, accelerating software releases without sacrificing security and performance.
With a constantly growing portfolio of applications and an increasingly complex technological ecosystem, a leading company in the energy infrastructure sector was faced with a challenge: to improve efficiency, speed and security in the release of software.
This renewal was essential to support the wide range of applications, ranging from apps for end customers, used to monitor and manage gas supply, through platforms dedicated to suppliers, to internal tools for business management. The growing complexity required a paradigm shift: the current infrastructure was no longer sufficient to support the needs of a company looking to the future. Support was therefore necessary for an infrastructure renewal that would involve the adoption of the cloud in multi/hybrid mode, maintaining control over an increasingly diversified application ecosystem.
To transform the application management process, the company has chosen to adopt an advanced DevOps platform, designed by Liquid Reply to meet the needs of speed, security, and flexibility. The core of the solution is based on the adoption of cloud-native tools and the definition of a surrounding process, which has enabled the automation and optimization of the application release cycle.
A key element was the integration of Quality Gates, which introduce modular and mandatory controls to ensure safety, performance and compatibility at every stage of the development cycle. Thanks to a scalable and adaptable approach, the new platform has been designed to support different technologies and reduce operating costs, accelerating release times and improving overall application management.
HOW DID WE DO IT
Liquid Reply has adopted a targeted approach to implementing the new DevOps platform, following a series of strategic steps.
We analyzed the existing DevOps infrastructure to identify inefficiencies and establish the necessary requirements for a migration to the hybrid cloud.
We introduced these tools to automate the integration and continuous distribution (CI/CD) cycle, reducing software release times and optimizing resource use.
Mandatory and modular checks have been added to verify security, performance, and backward compatibility at every stage of development, significantly improving code quality.
After validating the MVP on pilot applications, we gradually extended the platform to the entire application park of the leader in the energy sector, ensuring a seamless transition for business operations.
