The project “Moving to the Cloud”

Project's objectives

The main objective of the “Moving to the Cloud’ Project is to enable Bormioli Pharma to advance the Digital Transformation Strategy path with the Oracle ERP cloud solution. It enables to introduce efficiency and value across all business processes, including for non-purely administrative areas, to evolve towards the use of technologies such as mobile, social, analytics / big data, IoT.

SCENARIO

As a renowned glass and packaging supplier for the pharmaceutical industry, Bormioli Pharma has recently started a transformation path aimed at becoming the ideal partner for the industry's evolution. This means shifting from products to solutions, focusing on innovation with the aim of putting health in the hands of the world. A solid digital strategy is a buildblock toward this new direction.

As a part of this digital vision, Bormioli Pharma launched a ERP project aimed at optimizing its operating, administrative and production processes, reducing maintenance costs and improving quality. The project, consisting in migrating with the Oracle full cloud solution, leads to a significant simplification of system processes and architecture and the simultaneous reduction of the TCO of application solutions.

SOLUTION

The Oracle ERP Cloud solution breaks the classic paradigms of ERP implementation projects, and has the advantages of:

  • fast implementation thanks to the remarkable capabilities of standard features, high degree of configurability that allows to adjust the system by avoiding heavy customization,
  • simplify and standardize its business processes to the Best Practices product process in the so-called Oracle Modern Best Practices,
  • introducing a high degree of applications security.

Next challenge will be integration of IoT services for Production Monitorning to allow the structuring of a real-time monitoring process of the production lines with the purpose of verifying the status of the same and predicting potential anomalies
