Hannover Messe is one of the most important international platforms for all technologies related to industrial transformation and will take place this year in Hannover from 17-21 April 2023. As an impulse generator for a globally and digitally networked industry, the trade fair focuses on the topics of Industry 4.0, AI & Machine Learning, Energy Management, CO2-neutral Production and Hydrogen & Fuel Cells. With the Industrial Security Circus, a completely new mix of technologies, offers, products, services such as IT security training and targeted, explanatory entertainment with innovative ways of imparting knowledge in the context of IT security in industrial manufacturing will be presented at this year's fair.
Making security tangible and raise awareness: ICS / (I)IoT security test units
Process control and automation are complex industrial processes that require a high degree of reliability and safety. The disruption, manipulation or even the impairment of such processes can be detrimental to the company in terms of both operational disruptions and failures as well as life-threatening for the operating personnel. In the course of the digital transformation and Industry 4.0, the factory is no longer a silo, but production interacts strongly with IT. The provision of production data to the business world, but also orders, for example from ERP systems to production, is now part of everyday life in the digital business world. The complexity of the resulting infrastructure and processes offers attack surfaces for cyber-attacks.

ICS Security – Flea circus
Recent surveys by various vendors and institutes show that awareness of ICS security has improved. However, the surveys have also shown that there is still a gap between the ICS and IT worlds. Many attacks on ICS are carried out through IT. Campaigns and training help raise awareness of potential cyber-attacks, but not just in the form of a slide show, but in a mini production line, like a flea circus. Therefore, we have built up a test and training stand for ICS to demonstrate, train and "experience" how security attacks are carried out on a production line and what concepts and solutions are available to secure ICS.

Catch me if you can – Cyber-attacks simple detection techniques
The rapid development of technology and the ever-increasing networking confront our society, the economy, and the state with immense challenges. The advantages of increasing digitalization are contrasted by constantly emerging potential dangers. Due to the complexity of networking and the cost-driven development of infrastructure components and services, security gaps are increasing massively, which increases the risk of possible attacks. It is therefore not surprising that every second company in Germany has already fallen victim to cyber-attacks in recent years. In this presentation, the experts from Spike Reply teach simple techniques for recognizing anomalies that may indicate a cyber-attack. The detection techniques presented can thus be used to derive possible use cases or infrastructure improvement plans to prevent the risk of a possible compromise. Examples from practice underline how simple everything can be.
