Previously considered just a gaming tool, Kinect is now set to break into new business areas from interactive point-of-sale systems to fresh ways of interacting with banking customers and wherever an audience needs to be engaged. With its motion-tracking system, for example, virtual changing rooms can be set up for trying on clothes without getting undressed, and users can browse catalogues and special offers without even going into the shop – all by interacting directly with a screen outside the shop window. In the health arena, Kinect applications could prove even more revolutionary. For instance, they could provide a detailed posture analysis and recommend changes in the way you move, to help prevent certain diseases. In surgical settings, medical information from patient records to X-rays could be inspected without even touching the computer, by working at a distance using body movements without compromising sterility. Forge Reply is the expert in trialling these technologies. We have run numerous projects to exploit Augmented or Virtual Reality and we offer novel and more natural interaction paradigms. These include interaction via eye-tracking (using TOBII technology) and body-movement sensing (with Kinect or similar technologies).
