Delivering a New ERP and Data Platform for a Process Manufacturer
A global process manufacturer partnered with Reply to modernize its SAP landscape and unify its data platform using Microsoft Fabric.
THE CONTEXT
From Divestment to Data-Driven Operations
Following its separation from a multinational process manufacturer, a leading global producer of high-performance engineering polymers faced an aggressive timeline to become fully independent prior to a short Transitional Service Agreement (TSA). Critical to that success was modernizing its legacy SAP 4.6c ERP system and enabling timely access to data across 26 global sites.
To address this challenge, the company partnered with two specialized Reply companies, Syskoplan Reply, a Gold Partner of SAP and experts in business transformation, and Valorem Reply, a trusted Microsoft Cloud Partner and Microsoft Fabric Featured Partner. By combining deep SAP knowledge with advanced Microsoft Fabric capabilities, the team implemented SAP S/4HANA and a unified data platform to break down data silos, streamline operations, and build a scalable foundation for long-term growth.
THE CHALLENGE
From Legacy Constraints to Unified Intelligence
The company faced a complex and time-sensitive transformation following its separation from a multinational process manufacturer. A key priority was exiting the TSA within a short timeframe, which required the rapid deployment of a new, enterprise-grade ERP system. However, the organization’s legacy SAP environment was significantly outdated and heavily customized. This limited its ability to support modern business processes and slowed down operations, making it difficult to respond to market demands with agility.
At the same time, the company lacked a cloud-based infrastructure or unified reporting capabilities. Critical data was fragmented across systems and often delivered in flat file formats, making it inaccessible for timely, data-driven decisions. These issues were further compounded by the company’s global footprint—spanning 10 countries and a diverse product portfolio—which demanded seamless integration and visibility across finance, manufacturing, logistics, compliance, and more. Addressing these challenges required a coordinated effort to modernize both the ERP system and the data platform from the ground up.
HOW WE DID IT
Implementing a Clean Core and Unified Analytics Platform
To support this rapid transition, Syskoplan Reply designed and executed a joint strategy focused on modernizing both the company’s ERP and data environments. The first step was implementing SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private using a greenfield approach on Microsoft Azure, guided by SAP Best Practices. Through a series of Fit-to-Standard workshops, the team identified key process requirements, minimized unnecessary customizations, and applied a “clean core” methodology to streamline implementation. This allowed Delrin to build a future-ready ERP platform without carrying over the inefficiencies of its legacy SAP system.
In parallel, the team established a modern analytics foundation using Microsoft Fabric. With no native SAP connector available for Fabric at the time, Valorem Reply developed a custom solution leveraging Azure Data Factory (ADF) to extract data from SAP and move it into Fabric Lakehouses. These pipelines were paired with notebooks that cleansed and structured the data, ensuring high-quality inputs for analytics.
To make data accessible across business, Power BI was introduced to deliver real-time, interactive dashboards. Business users could now monitor key metrics such as inventory levels, forecast accuracy, and order performance—complete with the flexibility to toggle between local currencies, regions, and product lines. Throughout the project, Syskoplan Reply’s deep SAP process expertise and Valorem Reply’s cloud and data engineering capabilities came together to deliver a unified, agile solution that supports smarter decisions and faster execution across the customer's global operations.
