Global Data Acquisition and Provision Platform

Data Reply designs Data Acquisition and Provision Platform to increase performance and agility for Vitol.

Vitol is an energy and commodities company; its primary business is the trading and distribution of energy products globally – it trades over seven million barrels per day of crude oil and products and, at any time, has 250 ships transporting its cargoes.

Vitol’s clients include national oil companies, multinationals, leading industrial and chemical companies and the world’s largest airlines. Founded in Rotterdam in 1966, today Vitol serves clients from some 40 offices worldwide and is invested in energy assets globally including: circa 18mm3 of storage across six continents, 480kbpd of refining capacity and 5,000 service stations across Africa, Australia, Eurasia and in Northwest Europe. Revenues in 2016 were $152 billion.

“We are delighted to be working with Vitol. They have an extremely interesting business and a ‘can-do’ mindset. In the course of our engagement we’ve met with colleagues across 3 continents, and throughout we have encountered people with very high standards and a real appetite for innovation.“

The Vitol Data Acquisition and Provision Platform

Timely access to market and associated data is imperative to facilitate the optimization of Vitol’s trading activities. As the breadth and volume of available data continues to grow, the Data Acquisition and Provision Platform provides a forward-looking infrastructure through which the data can be acquired, organised and distributed as the business requires.

Data Reply has worked with Vitol to design a global Data Acquisition and Provision Platform for pricing and fundamentals data that is fit for the demands of today and tomorrow. Anticipating the wide range of complex needs across research and trading desks, this design is integrated with Vitol’s existing technology IP, enabling the organisation to leverage cutting-edge frameworks, tools and architectures.

With scalability, flexibility and reliability at the core of the platform’s design, Vitol is again innovating with technology to derive competitive advantage.
