Lloyds implements Microsoft technology to fuel digital transformation

FOCUS ON: Microsoft,

Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) has officially announced a new strategic partnership working alongside technology giant Microsoft in a bid to accelerate the organisation’s journey towards complete digital transformation.

In a move that zeros in on rapidly advancing transformation strategy, it forms part of LBG’s commitment to a £3bn investment towards technology. The desired end result of this latest initiative will see all Lloyds Banking Group personnel presented with a new service delivering an up-to-date digital work environment.

The new agreement between the organisations will comprise a development plan for Microsoft Managed Desktop, making available Office 365 productivity tools, the advanced and secure operating system of Windows 10 along with a solution for advanced devices designed to assist management of evergreen currency.

A strategic partnership long in the making

Ever since 2017, Lloyds Banking Group has been associated with Microsoft helping with its Managed Desktop service. Areas worked on include building, testing and evaluating its requirements, such as security, agility and scale. This next phase in the relationship however is a landmark for a firm in the financial sector. With LBG’s mass roll out to all employees, it will become the biggest financial services enterprise in the world to deploy the Microsoft Managed Desktop technology.

The deployment of the technology will be backed up by LBGs use of another Microsoft product. Along with the Microsoft Managed Desktop, LBG will be using Azure, the cloud-based platform. It will supplement its services with Azure increasing scalability when required, business agility and presenting an improved customer offering.

Jen Tippin, Director for Group People and Productivity at LBG, commented on the new partnership:

“We are delighted to support this new agreement with Microsoft, which will not only deliver great support for our colleagues, ensuring that we continue to transform our ways of working, but also help improve operational resilience across the Group,”

Group Chief Information Officer at LBG, John Chambers added:

“As part of our digital transformation we’re creating a modern digital workplace and I am really excited about the impact of this new technology. A core principle of Microsoft Managed Desktop is the idea that an evolved approach can give colleagues fantastic experiences on workplace devices that stay current and secure with Microsoft 365.”

Digital metamorphosis with Microsoft

In order for organisations both large and small to succeed in today’s market, it’s essential to keep in line with the latest technology, using it to enhance business processes and compete in their specialist sector. CEO of Microsoft UK, Cindy Rose commented that becoming a complete digital business needs both cultural and technical transformation. Microsoft believes that a closer collaboration with clients and customer bases is essential to gain an understanding of their problems and serve their needs.
