Orchestrating a seamless experience at global scale

Microsoft’s Global Skilling team was in the early stages of planning AI Skills Fest, a weeklong digital global learning experience designed to engage audiences at every level of AI proficiency. The team knew that developing high-quality learning content wasn’t enough. To attract and engage learners, they needed to orchestrate a seamless, end-to-end experience that felt cohesive, intentional, and compelling across every touchpoint, from registration through post-event follow-up. Moreover, to ensure the event made a lasting impact on learners, it needed to not only teach practical skills but resonate on a human level—encouraging diverse learners around the globe to engage, interact, and see themselves reflected in the content.

Central to this effort was:

  1. Delivering an engaging, cohesive experience for a global, multi-level audience—ensuring content resonated across different roles, varying levels of AI proficiency, and regions

  2. Building a consistent creative direction and messaging approach across channels, while adapting content for different audiences and touchpoints

  3. Bringing key moments like the AI Skills Fest Mainstage to life as high-impact, shared experiences that served as an anchor to the broader event journey

  4. Coordinating across cross-functional Microsoft teams and external partners to manage complex timelines, dependencies, and parallel workstreams

Spur Reply addressed the complexity of delivering a cohesive, global learning experience through an integrated approach spanning program management, creative development, content strategy, and production. Bringing together human creativity and AI-enabled workflows, the team rapidly developed and delivered a connected experience that engaged learners before, during, and after the event while maintaining quality, consistency, and a distinctly human focus.

Building an integrated, human-centered experience

Spur built an integrated content and channel strategy to bring the event experience to life—from initial awareness-building to the event itself. Pre- and post-event videos, blogs, newsletters, and social content were designed to build anticipation, reinforce key messages, encourage interaction, and guide participants through each stage of the experience. Leveraging AI alongside human expertise, the team accelerated ideation, streamlined blog and newsletter development, and enhanced video production to deliver a high volume of assets within a compressed timeline.

At the center of this effort was the AI Skills Fest Mainstage video experience—a dynamic, variety show–style program designed to bring the event’s global, human-centered narrative to life. The Spur team defined the show’s creative vision and narrative arc, developed and refined scripts across segments, directed filming, and owned post-production. Under our creative direction, the mainstage combined expert insights, real-world stories, interactive segments, and perspectives from around the world to explore the skills, mindsets, and opportunities shaping the AI era.

A key priority throughout development was ensuring the experience reflected a broad range of voices and lived experiences. To achieve this, we implemented an integrated engagement strategy that invited learners worldwide to contribute through video submissions and social participation, then incorporated those contributions directly into the mainstage program. By bridging social engagement and the live event experience, we fostered meaningful interaction and created content that felt authentic, accessible, and relevant to a global audience. The result was a more inclusive experience that reinforced the uniquely human skills that remain essential in the era of AI

Coordinating across a complex global program

To bring these efforts together, Spur coordinated across Microsoft teams and external partners, managing timelines, dependencies, and stakeholder alignment across a complex global program. Staying closely connected with parallel event workstreams ensured that our integrated marketing strategy and content tied in seamlessly to the broader event experience, creating a cohesive journey for learners around the world

Turning ambitious goals into measurable global impact

By designing for interaction and elevating diverse, relatable voices, AI Skills Fest delivered a more human-centered learning experience on a global scale. The integrated Mainstage and supporting content not only captured attention, but helped learners feel seen, supported, and motivated to continue building their skills. The impact was broad:

  • Over 28 million minutes of free AI learning were delivered to participants worldwide, reflecting significant engagement across audiences at all levels of proficiency

  • Learners from 200+ countries and regions participated

  • The experience drove strong community interaction, with thousands of social post comments and sustained engagement across channels

  • Hundreds of thousands of learners tuned into the Mainstage show, creating a unifying moment for the event and leaving a lasting impression on attendees, who praised the experience for its authenticity and energy

  • Microsoft’s learning platform AI Skills Navigator saw sustained engagement beyond the event, demonstrating continued learner interest and extending impact well after the live experience concluded

Together, these results demonstrate Spur’s ability to translate ambitious goals into measurable outcomes.  From pre-event social amplification and the mainstage video experience to post-event engagement, Spur played a central role in making the experience interactive, memorable, and distinctly human-centered for attendees around the world. Ultimately, we helped Microsoft engage audiences at scale, sustain momentum well beyond the event itself, and deepen connections through meaningful, learner-focused experiences.
