Aligning the ecosystem around growth

SAP's partner ecosystem is one of the most important drivers of business growth. Partners play a critical role in customer acquisition, implementation, and long-term success. With that in mind, SAP saw an opportunity to create a shared vision and distinct brand as a foundation for future growth. The idea was to create even stronger internal alignment and to recognize and celebrate the SAP ecosystem and the critical roles that partners play.

Turning vision into a scalable partner brand system

Spur Reply partnered with SAP to create a unified brand and vision for the future of its partner ecosystem.

The initiative began with guided stakeholder alignment focused on defining a common north star: positioning partnership as a clear and accessible path to growth. Our team conducted ~ 20 hours of interviews with SAP teams and partners and conducted benchmarking research to identify the whitespace where an SAP partner brand could carve out differentiated territory. We grounded the proposed partner brand vision and strategy in those findings and drove executive alignment at the C-level.

To bring the strategy to life, Spur Reply developed a brand architecture and naming system dedicated to organizing partner types, tracks, programs, and tools into a cohesive framework. The goal was to reduce complexity in the partner experience, while preserving the business flexibility that SAP needs.

The team also created a flexible messaging framework with variations to support to-, through-, and with-partner motions. This framework enabled SAP to communicate consistently with partners while also being relevant for different audiences and business scenarios.

To support the new strategy, Spur Reply designed a unified visual identity system that leveraged the strength of the SAP corporate brand while creating a distinctive identity for the partner ecosystem. Brand guidelines, supporting assets, and governance resources were developed to jumpstart the brand roll-out and enable global teams to more easily adopt the new brand.

Together, these elements created a foundation that could scale across SAP's global partner ecosystem while delivering a more intuitive and cohesive experience for partners and internal teams alike.

Why it matters

As partner ecosystems evolve and grow, complexity also grows too. New programs, tools, and initiatives create value, but without a clear framework, they can also create confusion.

This engagement demonstrates the importance of brand strategy as a business driver. According to a recent Gartner survey, firms with a strong brand strategy are 2x more likely to exceed their growth goals – a clear indicator of how brand shapes business performance.

By aligning stakeholders around a shared vision and creating a simplified, scalable partner brand architecture, SAP transformed a fragmented ecosystem approach into a cohesive platform for growth.

The result was more than a refreshed brand. It was a strategic foundation that enables stronger collaboration, clearer communication, and a more connected partner experience that is built to support the future of SAP’s partner ecosystem.
