Microsoft has confirmed that its Visio Online app for diagramming can now be accessed by those commercial customers already using the Office 365 suite.
The online form of Visio enables those who are using it to view and share the likes of floor plans and flow charts within a browser. However, it does not allow for the actual creation of content, although the user is able to add their own comments to the diagrams, which means that workers can communicate about shared content.
Visio Online underwent preview testing during the autumn of last year, with Microsoft stating in its announcement of the new release that it got very positive feedback from users about the app. It is because of this that the software firm has given it a full launch and practically all of those commercial customers that deploy Office 365 can now access it.
Among those to whom it is available are Office 365 ProPlus, Business Premium, Business Essentials and Business subscribers. It can also be accessed by SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business plan 1 and 2 users.
In its statement to confirm this, Microsoft said: “The APIs enable programmatic access to the embedded Visio Online diagrams in a SharePoint Online page. Developers can use them to interact with Visio diagram elements – pages and shapes – expose diagram data, write custom handlers for mouse events, create visual mark-ups on the diagram canvas and more.”
