Ensuring Medicine Safety with Global Verification and Traceability Solutions

Combatting Fake Medicines

Ensuring the safety and authenticity of medicinal products is a critical challenge worldwide. The rise of falsified medicines poses a serious threat to global health, leading to treatment failures, adverse drug reactions, and increased drug resistance. In the European Union alone, billions of consumed prescribed medicines packs require verification, to ensure authenticity before being dispensed to patients

With 120,000 points of dispense, made up of community and hospital pharmacies and wholesalers, handling medicines, implementing a secure, efficient, and scalable verification system across Europe is a monumental task. The global pharmaceutical supply chain is complex, making it susceptible to falsified medicines.

Equally, in LMICs (low-and-middle-income countries), falsified medicines pose a significant threat, with 1 in 10 medicinal products at risk of being fake and infiltrating supply chains. This leads to significant health risks and potential fatalities.

This highlights the need for a secure, scalable, and efficient verification system to combat this crisis, ensuring seamless interoperability across multiple geographies.

The Solution

  • TRVST: A world-first global verification and traceability system, combining GS1 standards with Azure’s security and scalability to detect falsified and diverted medicines before they reach patients in developing countries.

  • EMVS Hub: Serves as a central repository where manufacturers upload serial numbers, allowing pharmacists, wholesalers, and healthcare providers to verify medicine authenticity.

  • SafeHandsVT: Provides customisable, end-to-end visibility across the supply chain. From manufacturers to patients, ensure authentication, verification, and data analysis with our ready-to-go solution already trusted in over 20 countries.

  • SafeNationVS: Solidsoft Reply’s cloud-based National Blueprint System (NBS) for medicine verification, tailored to help European countries meet the Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) requirements.
