Semantic Kernel

Turn complex enterprise data models into governed, reusable and standards-aligned assets

The challenge

Energy & Utilities organizations manage complex and heterogeneous data landscapes, where proprietary models must coexist with evolving industry standards such as CIM, IEC 61850, DLMS/COSEM and NGSI-LD.

Aligning these models traditionally requires extensive manual analysis, specialist expertise and continuous maintenance. This increases integration costs, slows down the onboarding of new data sources and makes it difficult to preserve knowledge, trace mapping decisions and respond efficiently to changes in standards.

The solution

Sense Reply introduces Semantic Kernel, an AI-assisted design-time governance platform that helps organizations understand, map and evolve enterprise data models without replacing existing systems or modifying source data.

The platform combines technical metadata, business knowledge and target information models to generate governed mappings, transformation logic and reusable integration artifacts. AI-assisted workflows, supported by chatbot-based interaction, accelerate semantic analysis and mapping generation, while domain experts and enterprise architects retain control over validation and approval.

Source Discovery and Analysis: Examines enterprise data structures and technical metadata to identify schemas, relationships and relevant business context.

Semantic Knowledge Management: Captures business knowledge, approved mapping decisions, model versions, lineage and reusable semantic information.

AI-Assisted Mapping: Uses Amazon Bedrock to support semantic reasoning and generate mapping proposals between enterprise schemas and selected target models.

Governed Artifact Generation: Produces reusable mapping libraries or deployable microservice packages, including transformation code, validation rules, automated tests, documentation and source-to-target traceability.

The advantages

Accelerates data integration: Reduces the manual effort required to analyze data models, define mappings and onboard new data sources.

Supports standards-based interoperability: Helps organizations align enterprise data with standards such as CIM, IEC 61850, DLMS/COSEM and NGSI-LD without redesigning their operational databases.

Preserves and reuses enterprise knowledge: Converts metadata, mapping decisions, transformation logic and domain expertise into governed assets that can be reused across projects.

Improves governance and traceability: Maintains model versions, lineage, approval status and source-to-target traceability throughout the transformation process.

Cloud-native and scalable: Runs containerized application services on Amazon EKS, uses Amazon Bedrock for AI reasoning and relies on MongoDB Atlas as its knowledge, metadata and governance backbone.

Why choose Sense Reply

Sense Reply combines Energy & Utilities expertise, cloud-native architecture capabilities and experience in complex data-integration programs to help organizations modernize data governance and accelerate semantic interoperability.

Working with AWS and MongoDB, Sense Reply delivers an integrated approach that brings together AI-assisted reasoning, governed knowledge management and standards-aligned transformation. The solution supports data engineers, enterprise architects and governance teams in creating consistent and reusable integration assets while maintaining control over validation, traceability and model evolution.

Semantic Kernel can be introduced through a focused proof of concept and progressively extended across data-modernization, smart-metering, grid-management, digital-twin and API-based integration initiatives.
