The scenario
Tradition, innovation, and digital growth
With over 140 years of history and a network of more than 40 sales points distributed across Lazio, Umbria, Tuscany, Marche, Abruzzo, Molise, and the recent openings in Lombardy, Orsolini represents a solid and dynamic reality in the world of construction, thermohydraulics, and furnishings.
The constant growth, the diversification of the offer, and the focus on service quality have driven the company to undertake a path of digital transformation, aimed at streamlining processes, reducing costs, improving customer satisfaction, and achieving full control over the sales, procurement, and delivery processes.
THE CHALLENGE
Implement a complete integration of marketing, sales, planning, purchasing, logistics, and post-sales systems.
Streamline business processes and overcome the complexities of managing two distinct sales channels (B2B and B2C) and heterogeneous business lines.
THE SOLUTION
Integrated architecture and process automation with Microsoft Dynamics 365
The project involved the gradual and complete adoption of the modules of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Application: through the technology of Microsoft Dual-Write the sales processes have been optimized, ensuring a deep integration between the ERP D365 Finance And Operations and the CRM D365 for Customer Engagement.
The solution allows for a rapid and fluid bidirectional exchange of data between key business entities, such as Products, Customers, Offers and Orders, unifying the pricing calculation engine and extending it to manage industry-specific requirements. The integration has allowed for the optimization of information management and improved operational efficiency.
Focus on the supply chain and retail points
Specific tools have been developed to meet business needs and optimize the supply chain and the in-store experience.
The BENEFIT
Transforming data into competitive advantage with D365
Power BI packages have been implemented based on Microsoft Dynamics 365 for the areas of sales, purchasing, inventory, management control, and schedules.
These tools, expanded over the years, allow management and agent leaders to easily access data from Dynamics 365 F&O, as well as the data source from the old management system Galileo, which is still partially in use, ensuring the continuity of KPIs. This results in aggregated data between the two systems, ranging from general KPIs to specific DrillThrough tables, in order to make business decisions based on certified and shared data across all business areas.
The ETL process of the data is carried out in Azure Synapse Analytics, using Synapse Link to Dataverse, which is connected to both the CRM and the ERP, and Integration Runtimes for SQL Server On-Prem. The data is also the reference basis for Orsolini's internal IT sector, for the generation of reports created and distributed internally within the company.
The RESULT
A significant improvement in business operations and customer experience
The integration of ERP and CRM systems has enabled a bidirectional exchange of real-time data, directly impacting the quality of information and the reduction of update times. This has led to more accurate and timely management of offers, orders, and customer information.
With immediate visibility of inventory levels, salespeople can provide customers with reliable delivery times without further consulting logistics staff. This has optimized sales processes and reduced the margin of error, significantly improving the customer experience.
Another key outcome has been the improvement in data quality: orders have become more accurate and no longer require revisions. This has reduced errors and the time spent on control activities.
The automation of the replenishment process through the Planning Optimization module has simplified inventory management, allowing for more efficient planning and reducing the time related to defining order quantities. This has allowed for a 10% reduction in inventory value after 6 months.
Looking to the future
In the coming months, the exploration and adoption of AI tools and the Dynamics 365 Copilot are expected to automate further procedures and improve business interaction and productivity. Additionally, the migration of the entire BI/Data Integration infrastructure to Microsoft Fabric, is anticipated to enable access to new Data Science features.
