What's New with Logic Apps

At Integrate 2026, the Azure Logic Apps product team unveiled a series of announcements that signal a significant evolution of the platform. While Logic Apps has traditionally been viewed as Microsoft's integration and workflow orchestration service, the latest announcements position it much closer to the centre of enterprise AI, automation, and agent-based architectures.

Logic Apps Automation

The headline announcement was Logic Apps Automation, a new managed offering designed to simplify the development and operation of enterprise automations. Microsoft has introduced a dedicated automation portal, AI-assisted workflow authoring, and a fully managed infrastructure model that removes much of the complexity traditionally associated with integration projects. The platform retains the scalability, governance, and security capabilities organisations expect while making automation accessible to a broader audience.

Built-In Knowledge as a Service

Microsoft also announced Knowledge as a Service for Logic Apps, simplifying how organisations prepare enterprise data for AI-driven scenarios. Rather than building and maintaining complex ingestion and retrieval pipelines, customers can upload content while Logic Apps handles much of the underlying orchestration required to make that data available to AI agents and applications. This capability will be available across both Logic Apps Automation and Logic Apps Standard.

Azure AI Foundry Agent Integration

Another major development is support for invoking Azure AI Foundry Agents directly from Logic Apps workflows. Organisations can build, evaluate, and govern agents within Azure AI Foundry while using Logic Apps to orchestrate those agents as part of broader business processes. This enables AI capabilities to be embedded into long-running workflows, enterprise applications, and operational processes rather than existing as isolated solutions.

Logic Apps Standard SDK

For developers, Microsoft introduced the Logic Apps Standard SDK, enabling workflows to be authored directly in C#. Developers gain access to familiar .NET tooling, stronger source control practices, type safety, packaging, and improved development workflows, while continuing to leverage the existing Logic Apps runtime and operational capabilities.

Azure Connector Namespace

Microsoft also unveiled Azure Connector Namespace, allowing organisations to use Logic Apps connectors independently of Logic Apps workflows. This opens access to Microsoft's connector ecosystem from custom applications, Azure Functions, Container Apps, and AI agent platforms. By decoupling connectivity from workflow execution, Microsoft is making integration capabilities more broadly available across the Azure ecosystem.
