Running Solo, Thriving Together: My Journey as a Microsoft Alliance Manager at Reply
Just Me, Myself, and the UK
There’s only one of me in the UK. As an Alliance Manager for Microsoft at Reply, my role is unique. My immediate team is scattered across Italy, the US, Germany, and Belgium. At times, it feels like standing at the start line of an ultra-marathon alone, with miles ahead and no one quite knowing what I’m doing here. It’s exhilarating. It’s isolating. It’s mine.
If It’s Microsoft, I’m On It
A big part of my role is aligning the work we do at Reply UK with Microsoft’s Partner Development priorities. I work closely with our Partner Development Manager to drive Azure consumption, support Co-pilot license adoption, and champion certifications, awards, and events that showcase our capabilities. If it’s Microsoft, I’m all over it. From strategic planning to tactical execution, I help ensure our efforts are visible, impactful, and aligned with Microsoft’s goals. It’s about more than just partnership. It’s about momentum, shared success, and making sure our work resonates across both organizations.
Solo Miles, Solid Mind
Much like my running, I’ve trained for this role largely solo. I’ve logged countless miles in solitude, finding peace and clarity in the rhythm of my feet and the quiet of countryside trails. That solitude has been a gift, a space for mental health, learning, reflection, and resilience. But just like in ultra running, the greatest successes in my role don’t come from going it alone. They come from building the right team around me.
Work, Run, Repeat
Working predominantly from home gives me the flexibility to fit training runs around my workday. It’s a rhythm that works for me, focused deep work followed by movement and fresh air. But I also deeply value face-to-face time with colleagues. Those moments of connection and shared energy are like seeing the aid station on a long run, vital, refreshing, and grounding.
Ultra Lessons from the Trail
This summer, I ran the Centurion South Downs Way 50km, my third ultra marathon. It was an epic achievement and one I won’t forget. What stood out most wasn’t just the finish line, but the support I had along the way. From logistics and planning to motivation and morale, each person involved played a role that mirrors the dynamics of my most successful working teams.
In both racing and work, success comes from clarity of roles, trust, and shared purpose. Everyone knows their lane. That clarity prevents overlap and confusion. Over the last seven years at Reply, I’ve always felt safe to speak up, share ideas, and admit mistakes without fear. That builds resilience. That builds innovation.
Sometimes, the global nature of my team makes it hard to find a common mission. But whether it’s crossing a finish line or delivering a project, alignment matters. It keeps us moving in the same direction. And when things change, as they often do, the best teams pivot quickly, support each other, and stay focused on outcomes.
Tech with Heart: My Solidsoft Reply Story
My most rewarding successes come when I have the right people around me, I trust them, and I let them lift me when the miles get long. I’ve always been part of a professional and polished team that delivers on the day.
Although my role is quite different from the technical delivery work Solidsoft Reply is known for, building complex, scalable, and mission-critical systems on Microsoft Azure, I feel deeply connected to the team. What we share is a strong sense of purpose and a belief in the human impact of what we do.
I may not be architecting cloud infrastructure or deploying enterprise-grade solutions, but I see the difference our work makes. Talking about technology is one thing. Changing lives is another. Whether it’s helping ensure patients receive the right medication, supporting healthcare systems with reliable data, or enabling partners to deliver with confidence, the services we provide go far beyond the technical. They touch people. They matter. At Solidsoft, we don’t just deliver systems. We deliver outcomes that improve lives. That human aspect is what gets me up in the morning. It’s what keeps me going when the miles get long. And it’s what makes me proud to be part of this journey.

My next project at Reply and my next ultra will be no different.
