Case Study

Think big in small businesses with Microsoft Dynamics 365

The project developed for Pettinature Lane Romagnano Sesia (PLRS) is cloud-based and combines Microsoft Dynamics 365 technology with a framework entirely developed by Cluster Reply, which connects data and information within Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.

Innovation in the Textile Industry with Microsoft Dynamics 365

Pettinature Lane Romagnano Sesia (PLRS) is an excellence of the textile industry, in Italy and around the world. A small-sized company used multiple software for managing various business areas. The existing software was uncommunicative and unstructured, and there was no end-to-end connection between the various business processes. This was also accompanied by various collateral tools such as Excel and proprietary programs maintained individually by the various employees.

The goal was to standardize the entire production process into a single cloud solution, automating delicate or repetitive operations and allowing employees to have visibility of all production phases. The solution needed to interface with the machinery present in the laboratory to communicate real-time data to the new system, such as the number of materials consumed, the status of processing, or the quality of the processing.

The answer came from Microsoft Dynamics 365, proving to be excellent for simplifying work and saving resources, modernizing the infrastructure.

This project allowed PLRS to enter the IoT world, creating a network between the employee, Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, and the production laboratory, completely interconnected.

‹‹The Pettinatura faced the implementation project of a new management system to address the need to transition from multiple non-communicating software to a single integrated system, having limited internal resources for project development and needing to find an external partner capable of supporting the transition and managing the project flexibly. In light of the above needs, Pettinatura has opted for Dynamics 365 for its reliability, flexibility, modularity, and the ability to manage processes in the cloud without the need for specialized IT personnel in-house, and has chosen Cluster Reply as a partner for the expertise demonstrated in the initial evaluation phase (compared to other suppliers) regarding the understanding of the management needs of both processes and the project and in defining the proposed solutions during the scouting phase. During the project development, the Cluster Reply team demonstrated the necessary flexibility and understanding of the business, providing alternative solutions to meet the needs and specificities, often managing to rationalize and bring back to standard processes that were previously managed with highly customized solutions. The team was able to manage the project while respecting the established timelines with substantial adherence to the project budget. This was also thanks to the timely monitoring by Cluster Reply of the progress of ongoing activities, some of which were parallel to third-party companies. During the go-live phase and also in the first months following the go-live, the support from Cluster Reply proved fully capable of addressing the needs that arose.››

Cloud Innovation with Microsoft Dynamics 365

The project, designed from the beginning to be entirely in the cloud, combined technology from Microsoft Dynamics 365 with a framework developed entirely by Cluster Reply, aimed at enabling communication between the machines in the laboratory and translating the machine signals from them into specific business events within Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. Thanks to Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations and the Cluster Reply Framework, every event is automatically recorded within the ERP platform, and, always through the platform, the user can send commands to the machines in the laboratory. The framework also takes care of validating the various signals sent and monitoring the status of the machines, recording any discrepancies or failures and allowing employees to take timely action.

Change Management Management

The management of change management has also been a challenge that Cluster Reply has successfully met; the transition to the new system was made smoothly so that the client could have continuity of service and users had continuous support during the project development with the dual purpose of allowing Cluster Reply to bridge the intellectual gap by having a clear idea of the working method used and for the client to easily learn how the new system works in view of the decommissioning of their previous system: All of this with tight timelines and a limited budget.
