An E-commerce Solution for a Startup in the Electric Bike Industry
For many years, GAYA has relied on Wizards Reply as its CTO-as-a-Service partner, providing the technical team responsible for the development and operation of its e-commerce platform and websites.
GAYA e-commerce platform supports online sales for its electric bike offering.
Under a tight timeline, we delivered a opensource-oriented solution featuring a tailored product configurator and a custom reservation flow, so customers can explore complex options and reserve or purchase online.
Built on open-source components, such as Medusa and PayloadCMS, the platform provides a scalable foundation aligned with GAYA’s long-term roadmap.
Challenges
We overcome several challenges :
Composing firstly with Shopify theme limitations which led us to cope with it's legacy and switch to Medusa e-commerce platform.
Implement a complex, customised bike configurator and bike reservation journey.
Integrate e-commerce, Headless CMS and external tools (payments, POS, catalogue sync, CRM, ERP); ensure SEO-friendly routing without increasing operational complexity.
Solutions
We implemented a headless e-commerce architecture with a modern storefront (Next.js), a CMS for editorial content (PayloadCMS), and an e-commerce backend extended with custom modules and endpoints (Medusa).
We migrated from Shopify to Medusa and built catalogue synchronisation, webhooks and business rules.
A bespoke product configurator and reservation flow was delivered, we integrated payment providers and operational tools, and deployed the stack in the cloud for scalability and streamlined operations.
Multiple payment providers were implemented (direct payment with Payplug, multiple instalments payment with Alma & Younited).
