E.C.H.O.E.S.

A Complete and Modular Solution for Network Test Simulation and Reports

Scenario

The evolution of telecommunications networks, with the increasing architectural complexity of modern infrastructures, requires increasingly advanced tools for automating testing, validation, and monitoring activities, to reduce operational times and limit repetitive manual tasks.

In this scenario, the E.C.H.O.E.S. platform presents itself as a centralized and modular solution for the automated management of functional tests, stress tests, and traffic simulations in fixed network, mobile network, and data network domains.

On E.C.H.O.E.S., it is possible to execute automated testing campaigns on VoIP/VoLTE services and HTTP/HTTPS traffic, in addition to the automated execution of interactions on mobile devices, supporting the controlled execution of test scenarios without direct manual intervention.

The platform integrates centralized functionality for collecting test results and allows the creation of ad-hoc validation campaigns for monitoring network KPIs, verifying the stability of services (such as coverage and efficiency of mobile network services), and the quality of communications (in fixed and mobile phone calls).

Thanks to a scalable and distributed architecture, the platform can be integrated both in centralized environments and in Edge contexts, supporting scenarios with high scalability and geographical distribution.

Solution

E.C.H.O.E.S. (Executable Communication Hybrid On-demand Emulation System) is a user interface platform developed by NET Reply for automating testing processes and supporting troubleshooting in voice and data domains.

The solution is designed to support functional validation activities, stress testing, traffic simulation, and KPI monitoring in fixed network, mobile network, and data network environments, being able to integrate with multi-vendor infrastructures.

To date, the platform consists of three main modules:

The platform includes a section dedicated to the configuration and custom creation of tests, allowing the definition of specific parameters and scenarios, such as IP addresses, numbering, device types, call flows, and desired scenario logics, offering a high level of customization.

It also has a section dedicated to reports and the centralized collection of results from all types of tests, enabling the acquisition, aggregation, and export of logs, KPIs, and monitoring metrics.

Finally, it is possible to integrate the platform with external systems and Artificial Intelligence agents to enable event-driven automated validation processes, in which the detection of anomalies, performance degradations, or network faults automatically triggers the execution of targeted tests. The results and evidence produced are subsequently returned to the AI agent for analysis and validation of the outcome, enabling a closed loop of automated verification.

E.C.H.O.E.S. has been used for several years in the pre-production environments of one of the leading telecommunications companies in Italy to support validation activities, for example, to test new software releases and network device configurations, generate massive traffic to verify resilience under high load, simulate complex call scenarios, and automate CI/CD processes.

Some benefits for the customer

The adoption of the platform allows for the introduction of a centralized environment for automated testing and validation of voice and data services, reducing operational times and improving the efficiency of testing activities.

Among the main use cases and benefits:

  • automated execution of stress tests and stability tests on network infrastructures;

  • simulation of SIP traffic and validation of VoIP/VoLTE services;

  • simulation of large-scale HTTP/HTTPS video traffic;

  • monitoring of network KPIs, QoS/QoE, and audio quality;

  • validation of scenarios in mobile network environments using Android/iOS devices;

  • automatic activation of test campaigns following events, alarms, or service degradations;

  • scalability of the solution thanks to a distributed Cloud/Edge architecture.

The role of Net Reply

NET aims to be a technology partner for the integration, evolution, and management of the E.C.H.O.E.S. platform within the client's infrastructure, providing specialized skills in the domains of VoIP/IMS, networking, automation, and system integration.

In particular, NET will be able to support the following activities:

• installation, configuration, and integration of the platform in Cloud, Edge, or On-Premise environments;

• integration with SIP/IMS infrastructures, network edge devices (e.g., SBC), and existing voice and data networks;

• definition and customization of ad-hoc tests;

• creation of stress test campaigns and high-rate traffic simulation;

• deployment of dashboards, with reports and collection of network KPIs and service quality;

• integration with OSS/NOC systems, monitoring platforms, trouble ticketing systems, and automation tools via APIs, webhooks, and standard protocols;

• implementation of event-driven validation processes and integration with Artificial Intelligence agents for automated execution of tests and troubleshooting activities;

• proposal and development of new test scenarios and new functionalities.
