A new digital offering that empowers customers and expands Rotary Bearings’ market potential
Turning raw sensor data into actionable energy and asset insights
#ConditionBasedMonitoring
#AWS

the challenge
Deliver a scalable, production‑ready condition‑based monitoring and energy insights platform that Rotary Bearings can offer directly to their clients.
The scenario
Transforming an industrial supplier into a data‑driven solutions provider
Rotary Bearings, originally focused on supplying bearings, belts and industrial consumables, identified a growing need among their customers: real‑time insights into the performance, energy usage and reliability of their critical assets. Although clients already collected raw kWh data from sensors, the information lacked context, analysis, and actionable value. Rotary Bearings wanted to evolve from selling physical parts to providing advanced digital monitoring capabilities that could prevent downtime, reduce costs and increase operational efficiency for their customers.
The solution
A scalable, multi‑tenant energy and condition monitoring platform built on AWS
Working closely with Rotary Bearings, Storm Reply developed a unified monitoring platform that brings together sensor data, energy information, and asset insights in a clear and meaningful way. The goal was to create a solution that was simple for customers to use, easy for Rotary Bearings to manage, and capable of growing as more clients adopt the service.
What began as a proof of concept quickly evolved into a full production system that Rotary Bearings now deploys with their customers. The platform transforms raw data into practical, real‑world insights — from energy consumption and costs to asset performance and environmental impact — all presented through intuitive dashboards. This approach not only improves visibility and decision‑making for end users but also enables Rotary Bearings to offer a more valuable, insight‑led service that strengthens long‑term customer relationships.
The Technology Behind It
Built on AWS for reliability, scalability and speed to market
The platform uses AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, Aurora Serverless PostgreSQL and Terraform‑based Infrastructure‑as‑Code. This ensures repeatable deployments, operational resilience and the ability to scale seamlessly as Rotary Bearings’ client base grows.
Grafana dashboards, securely deployed through ECS, provide a unified visualisation layer where users can track performance KPIs, asset condition and energy insights in real time. With multi‑tenant architecture, BU admins and client teams can easily manage tariffs, configure settings, and view the metrics relevant to their role — all while maintaining robust data isolation and security.
The result
A new digital offering designed to empower customers and expand Rotary Bearings’ market opportunity
The new platform provides Rotary Bearings and their clients with continuous visibility into asset performance, energy usage and cost efficiency. Customers can now track consumption patterns, monitor asset health and take preventative action before breakdowns occur — reducing downtime and operational risk.
For Rotary Bearings, the solution unlocks an entirely new business capability: a value‑added, data‑driven service that deepens customer trust and opens new revenue streams. By transforming raw sensor data into actionable insights, the platform elevates Rotary Bearings from industrial supplier to strategic technology partner.
