When bowling becomes an immersive and personalized experience

In the entertainment sector, audience engagement is no longer just about the moment of competition, but about the entire experience lived within the bowling center. 

For this reason, we collaborated with QubicaAMF the world leader in bowling and entertainment, to create Avatar Alley: a solution that transforms every game into a customized and interactive. 

The project's goal was clear: to go beyond simple score updates and create an environment capable of surprising, engaging, and making every player the star of the experience. 

A unique avatar for each player 

The experience comes to life from the very first moments, even before the game starts.  

Each participant takes a selfie that is used to automatically generate a cartoon-style avatar, creating a personalized digital representation of the player. 

From that moment on, the avatar comes to life within two synchronized experiences: 

  • on the screens of the tracks, where small groups of avatars react to throws and score changes with animations dynamic;

  • on the large LED wall in the center, where the Neoverse displays collective celebrations and spectacular moments shared by all the players present. 

Our technological solution 

To support an experience of this level, we have designed and developed a dedicated architecture, consisting of: 

Unity Core 

The shared engine of the real-time experience that includes: 

  • a unified event model; 

  • centralized asset management;

  • animation systems and state machines;

  • pooling and batching to optimize performance. 

Avatar Creation Service

The avatar creation layer that deals with:

  • AI-based Matching: an analysis engine of the player's selfie identifies the best match avatar within a pre-set database

  • Intelligent asset caching

  • Seamless integration with QubicaAMF systems

Our expertise: Real-time animations on LED Wall

One of the most innovative aspects of the project was the management of animations in real-time on large LED Walls. 

The system receives real-time game events and immediately transforms them into high-impact visual content, synchronizing dozens of avatars within a shared futuristic environment. 

Our experience in designing real-time immersive experiences has allowed us to: 

  • ensure smoothness and stability of animations; 

  • optimize rendering for large LED surfaces;

  • synchronize content from multiple tracks; 

  • maintain high performance even during peak times. 

The results

With Avatar Alley, bowling evolves from a simple recreational activity to an immersive, social, and memorable experience.  

Every game becomes a moment of continuous engagement, where interaction does not stop between shots.

The animations that involve the entire center and the personalized avatars, generated from a simple selfie, amaze the players and make them the stars of the experience.

This level of customization increases the sense of immersion and enhances the emotional engagement, turning every launch into a unique moment to experience and share.
