The new app will be implemented on Nettun@ 3000 and Explor@ tills to print out QR Codes on receipts and allow customers to pay via their smartphones. Olivetti has chosen HI Credits, the Reply remote mobile payment solution for cash registers. In particular, the new solution will be implemented on the integrated systems Nettun@ 3000 and Explor@ to provide flexible answers to the needs of shops, stores and restaurants. The result of this integration will be introduced at Smau 2012 (Milan, 17-19 October) at the Olivetti stand (PAD 2 Stand C08): the new cash systems Nettun@ 3000 and Explor@ tills will print the HI Credits QRcode on receipts that customers can use for secure payments via their smartphones. In this way, smartphones are turned into real, alternative mobile POS systems and consumers can make secure purchases without needing cash. Customers who sign up to HI Credits, download a smartphone app (for Android or iPhone) and complete the registration process by entering their personal details and the number of the credit card where to charge transactions. At the shop that sign up to the service, customers simply need to put the QR Code in front of their smartphone camera and start the HI Credits app. Details of the transaction will be automatically sent to a service centre where the mobile phone number is recognised and the payment is charged to their credit card. For additional security, the customer will receive a notification message and the payment will be authorised only after confirmation. Interestingly, instead of printing the QR Code on the receipt, the same information may be shown on the display of an Olivetti Explor@ touch-screen system.
