The Access Network (R)evolution

During Xchange 2021, our partner Angelo Zucchetti and Bruno Cornaglia, Senior Manager and Area Director for Broadband Forum SDN/NFV, have explained how Reply and Vodafone are working together in standardization bodies to implement the next-generation access network.
The current fixed and mobile access technology is showing its limitations. Its complex, monolithic software is creating a lot of hidden costs in time-to-market and testing for operators. A new approach is needed and the only way to do that is by cloudifying the major part of the software. As always this also has some drawbacks. In order to have a complete flexible environment standardizing all the relevant reference points is important.
