Data Warehouse and analysis to drive business choice in banking industry

FOCUS ON: Business Intelligence & Data Services, CRM, Integration, Oracle, Portal, SAS, Banking, Financial Services,

In 9 months, Technology Reply created a Data Warehouse solution for an important foreign bank. The solution represents a single source of integrated information, aimed at guiding the Bank’s analytical and operational processes (reporting).

The application enables users of all business departments – from Finance, Marketing to Operations – to have daily access to the statistics that measure the performances of individual areas through the bank’s KPI (Key Performance Indicator) via a portal created with Oracle Portal. The operational data, resident in a series of systems used by the bank, are extracted, validated and reorganised within the physical Data Warehouse structure.

With the aid of analysis tools (Oracle and SAS), users are therefore able to analyse the information obtained from the Data Warehouse and make query analyses, reports or any other type of analysis that enables them to transform information into knowledge. Users can also apply rules backed by statistical algorithms and analytical models and then analyse the information, using, say, the “what if” predictive method.

The bank’s marketing team, for example, can use the tool to create campaigns and define the offer and the target, creating customer segments and building predictive models on the behaviour and response of customers to certain offers. The information obtained with the aid of the Data Warehouse application is needed by users at the bank to plan their activities so they can reach business objectives.

Npl Management: focus on market, main players and servicers offer

Regulator pressure forced banks to improve internal management and to aim to strong de-risking policies, by managing to halve NPL volumes in 5 years. Foreign and non-foreign investors have paid particular attention to Italy for the high levels of impaired loans and for the business opportunities encountered.
